The Folsom Quilt & Fiber Guild has a little over 250 members from all around the area, from El Dorado Hills and Cameron Park to Sacramento and surrounding communities to areas across the river in Roseville and Placer County.
Our members have a huge variety of interests, from all types of quilting, piecing and appliqué; we also have some excellent machine quilters. We do crochet and knitting and many other art forms.
Our annual Quilt Show is in early February of each year. We have all kinds of quilts, wearable arts, and other handicraft. We have some very talented members with varied interests. In order to make shopping more fun, we have about 17 vendors at our show, we love shopping. The show runs for three days, with a fashion show each day. We have a wonderful catered lunch menu and lots of drawings, both door prizes and a boutique.
Each year we have a number of challenges, that require us to get out of our comfort zone. The challenges vary with the sponsor, we usually have a wearable art challenge, in addition last year we had a miniature, art quilt, and bed runner. We like to challenge ourselves to try new things.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month (except November 2014, third Tuesday). As part of our meetings, we conduct business, make announcements, have a program and drawings. There is a nominal charge of $3.00 to non members. Most months we have professional speakers that we bring in for the program and a workshop the next day. You are welcome to come to one of our meetings, we love having guests. July and December meetings are generally members, only, we usually do not have speakers at those meetings.
We have our "Cuddle Quilt" program, where we complete and donate quilts and other items to those in need. We have a number of charities that we work with and that we donate to each year.
We invite other guilds to bring their raffle quilt to our meeting and sell tickets, so we can support their charitable and fund raising efforts, also.
We run 2 to 3 retreats a year; two to Zephyr Cove, Nevada and one weekend retreat to the Mercy Retreat Center in Auburn.
Please look around our website, call if you have questions or need more information.
